Planet Mosh - Born to Rule Album Review
This is the band’s third album and the first full album with Steve ‘The Banshee’ Bell on vocals. This album has been produced by the band and mixed by their own Steve Beville (guitars). The quality of the album really is a credit to the band, if you didn’t know they had done all the work themselves you wouldn’t guess by listening to it. I have heard albums by long established, ‘big’, bands that don’t sound this good. The band sound tight and the mixing is great. You can definitely hear the band’s influences but without trying to just copy their style. This album is a well worth getting hold of for any metal fan.

Dead Earnest - DISARM GOLIATH Born To Rule CD
It literally takes about thirty seconds into this album to let you know exactly what you're about to experience – starts with stuttering metal guitar riffing, as rhythms drive forward and amid the metal might this falsetto vocal just dives in like a banshee to let you know you're in a world of Classic Rock that's just warming up and already sounding promising. From there on the song gets going as the singer lets go with a slightly gravelly vocal that pours passion into the song and delivers the vocals in the manner of a Halford or Dio as the whole thing takes on a distinct Judas Priest influence but infused with Maiden-esque choruses as the singer spans one almighty range of pitch. The drums accelerate, the bass thunders and suddenly a lead guitar break comes out of nowhere to deliver the solo with heat and fury as this amazing slice of Classic Rock storms ahead to absolute perfection – and this is just the opening track!! After this comes “Who Rules The Night” - even the titles paint the requisite picture – and this is a classic slice of Maiden-esque songwriting and arranging – in fact if you weren't a fan, you'd swear it was a Maiden song – it's got that exact arranging style to it as the rhythms propel the piece with power, the guitars swirl and drive underneath and the vocals, this time more mid-range, deliver the onrush of verses that lead into the heady, repeated hook that is the title of the track. All of a sudden, the pace takes a twist, a veritable classic Gillan of a scream is unleashed as the guitar once more takes a spirited solo over the lurching rhythms before the track gets back to the gravel vocal and the menace of the song, '90's-influenced Classic Metal done to excellence. “Betrayer” opens with sizling guitar riffs full of fuzz and fury as the drums stumble, drive then rush headlong into your skull as the bass pounds underneath, the guitar scales the heights and the singer rushes in with an ascending vocal and here the feel is more of a cross between later era Sabbath, bits of Rainbow and early Metallica as it all tears along at some pace, the vocals full of emotion as the metal muscle is flexed and the evil nature of the song flares out like a napalm gun in a jungle. It all rises into a wordless chorus as the song climbs higher, the vocals once agaion span a huge range of pitch and the song is a thunderous sea of riffing, menacing singing, Halford-esque choruses and rhythmic power. “Man Of Sins” sensibly starts at a more sedate pace with searing heat lead guitar ringing out slowly on top of cascading rhythm guitar as the vocals take on a softer feel and the song unfolds as you get the feeling it's going to explode – which, indeed it does – well, sort of – it actually just gets bigger and becomes a story-telling song delivered with gruff vocals as the whole thing ascends and propels into another Maiden-esque chorus along with lead guitar breaks rising to the surface as the mid-paced menace and passion of the song unfolds. Then there's a huge upper register guitar lead as another spirited solo dives into action before the song continues, goes back to how it began then just as you're thinking that's going to be it, actually segues right into the metal might and magic that is “Propaganda” as the song picks up the pace and rises up like a hurricane into this fast falsetto of a vocal above pummelling rhythm section work and storming seas of guitars that riff and solo like solar flares, as fine an example of Classic Metal as it comes. “Born To Rule” starts heavy with solid riffing, powerful rhythms and heated guitar leads as the vocals surge forward with that range-spanning heady effect and the song rumbles like a juggernaut into a world of seventies-esque metal that's lighting up the night sky like an electric storm complete with repeated hook of the title, the electricity unleashed by the guitar breaks and the overall metal thunder that inevitable ensues. “Cry Of The Banshee” ontinues in a similar vein only here with a more lurching but no less heavy rhythm arrangement as the vocals and guitars provide another earth-moving performance while the album ends on “Raining Steel”, a fast-paced number that's got dual vocal duelling off each other from the singer ona menacing fast-paced lurch of a song which stutters and drives into this tension-filled world opf riffs, rhythms and multi-tracked vocals, stomping, pounding and roaring forward through a huge sounding world of metal mayhem, guitars glowing like a furnace as the song drives towards a massive guitars-driven mid-section then the vocals re-enter and the song powers ahead to the end, faster than a rocket and every bit as explosive.
So there you have it – a Classic Rock 'n' Metal fan's delight of an album that rocks from start to finish – which, after all, is what a great metal album should be.

Disarm Goliath – Raining Steel Demo CD (www.myspace.com/disarmgoliath)
I miss good old fashioned, hard hitting Heavy Metal bands, you know, the kind of bands that you just want to bang your head along to, whilst raising the horn high when you’re hanging out with your friends, drinking huge amounts of cider and having a fine old time. So, that’s probably why I dig the hell out of this demo, as it’s three tracks of shameless old school metal with a hint of the power and speed varities thrown in for good measure – classic riffs, soaring vocals and great tunes? Finally, a UK band that can compete with our European brethren on a level Metal playing field. Bloody good work chaps, labels take note and get on the case before someone beats you to it… Tim Mass Movement

Disarm Goliath - Raining Steel (7/10) - Great Britain - 2009
Genre: Heavy Metal
Label: Self-production
Playing time: 14:10

Tracklist:
Who Rules The Night
Raining Steel
Two Worlds
My initial reaction to DISARM GOLIATH at the tail end of 2008 was hardly one of immediate warmth and congeniality. I found the EP, ‘’Man, Machine And Murder’’, a bit of a drag and lacking in any sort of decent merit. And then this a three track EP lands on the proverbial desk and I don’t hold my breath.
Frankly this is night and day compared with the last EP. The addition of Steve Bell on vocals has brought about a sea change in both song writing and overall buzz. This is a tight, impressive unit with a foot in going places very soon territory. Each of the tracks is a heavy weight bruiser mixed with a competent ear for melody a la MADIEN and PRIEST. Bell has an unrefined voice perfectly suited to the heavy riffs and chugging pace. There’s a quite noticeable difference in the quality of the songs and whatever’s in the water in the Midlands DISARM GOLIATH is having their fill!

BLAZE BAYLEY/WITH SUPPORT FROM/DISARM GOLIATH/08/12/11
There is a definite air of bated breath in the Queen’s Hall, Nuneaton on the night of the 8th December 2011. Soon, the one and only Blaze Bayley will be performing and this is well and truly his crowd. The massed crew of metalheads havn’t wandered in on a whim, they are here because they love him, all of them die-hard fans from ages past. The beer flows freely. For an hour or so now, people have been flowing into the venue freely too. The roadies and techies have been busily setting the stage for the opening act. There is laughter, there is merriment.
A guitar chord rings out and the crowd turns to the stage just as Disarm Goliath vocalist Steven Bell opens with a four octave eight bar vocal wail that starts in the bowels of the earth and ends on a glass shattering high note. Shivers run down my spine. The song takes off, a combination of fast heavy riffing almost reminiscent of power metal with obvious influence from the traditional heavy metal bands of the 80’s. Their set rages on, filled with vocal harmonies that add a brilliant depth to the songs and shred solos that leave me totally awestruck. I am really getting into this. The music is getting to me. Every minute is hyping me up more. Never have I been so into a band from the off. Sadly, all good things come to an end and eventually, with a hearty thanks and farewell, Disarm Goliath vacate the stage and the techies and roadies are a whirlwind of activity again. Disarm Goliath are a midlands based band who have been around for a few years now. In fact, I’m pretty sure I saw an older line-up support Blaze a few years ago and they were good then! Now they’re brilliant! I have to recommend them for everyone, visit their home site at: www.disarmgoliath.com

Route 44, Birmingham (Blaze Bayley Tour - Dec 2011) by Rock the Midlands
"He has certainly got a fine support band for this pre-Christmas trek. Walsall’s Disarm Goliath. The five piece have long been – in the RTM’s opinion anyway – the best unsigned band in the Midlands, and now they are ready to spread the word further afield.
You know the drill, you know the reference points, Priest, Maiden, Dio, a little bit of Merciful Fate here and there, but it is delivered with such conviction and skill that a little familiarity does no harm at all. “Who Rules The Night” and “Embrace The Abyss” are standout moments and augur well for the upcoming debut album and they find time to air “Breaking the Law” too. Magnificent. Now lets make them stars shall we?!"

Sin City, Swansea (Blaze Bayley Tour - Dec 2011) by Planet Mosh
"Up next was Disarm Goliath who have been supporting Blaze Bayley on theUKleg of this tour. They are a 5 piece metal band from Birmingham. As soon as they started all I could think was WOW. They were tight and front man “Ball Bustin” Steve Bell has one hell of a voice. If you weren’t watching them you would think someone had stuck a CD on. There has to be a strong Iron Maiden influence with these guys. If you get a chance to see them live then do it.

BladeFest 2 in Tamworth - April 2011
Disarm Goliath, one word, wow. I left the gig to get some cash out and came back to catch these guys mid-flow, and i tell you what i couldn't tell if they were playing live or a cd. The vocalist was extremely talented, hitting notes only dogs could hear. These guys were like a modern day Iron Maiden, and have obviously been playing a while together as they were so tight. Also just reading up on their info on the facebook page, they've done 2 mini tours of the US. These guys alone made the night for me and i'm glad i caught them. I would say to anyone who gets chance, go and see these guys. I'm not even totally into this genre of music, but i am now. Also whilst this band were playing i noticed alot of the younger audience were at the front moshing, this reminded of me of a couple of years ago when i was doing the same.

Disarm Goliath Supporting White Wizzard @ The Slade Rooms, Wolverhampton - Friday 5th November 2010
Just as I arrive, Walsall’s “hard-hitting, balls to the wall” Disarm Goliath are introducing their penultimate song, their version of Judas Priest’s ‘Breaking The Law’. Pushing his pipes to hit the high notes and holding ‘em there for what seemed an eternity, vocalist Steve Bell rattles the rafters with a vibrato warble that’s a cross between Paul Di’Anno and Rob Halford. Very impressive, think I, as I watch he and leather-trousered bassist Steve Surch compete for centre stage. The band, squeezed onto the diminutive stage, has big ideas, and I sense that they hunger for a big stage to give us a show of Maiden/Priest proportions. I get the impression that they would be remarkable too. The band is a tight unit with some impressive musicianship and their set is a fitting tribute to all things NWOBHM. For a moment, I had to look around to remind myself what decade we were in… Tony Gaskin - Midlands Rocks

Surface Unsigned Festival Reviews
Friday 17th April 2009 @ The Flapper, Birmingham
Words by Stephen Hudyba
Stage 1 Showcase
Disarm Goliath
The first band of the night was Birmingham based five-piece Disarm Goliath. Their sound is Classic-Metal with all the hallmarks and trimming you would expect, winding solos, fast beats and a powerful Rock-cry vocal, yet raised above that of your average Metal-hopeful by virtue of some excellent material. Songs with an abundance of energy and written for maximum impact they are clearly a band who knows exactly how to squeeze the most from their music.

Semi-Final Showcase

Disarm Goliath
The first band of the evening was Black Country based Disarm Goliath. They have clear influence from bands such as Iron Maiden and Metallica but they still pull it off in a way that is uniquely their own. This is an incredibly tight band that for the genre of music must be seen by all metal lovers. With their own strobe lights, outstandingly powerful lead vocals from Steve, some incredibly tight and strong Harmony vocals from bass player Steve, and some fast pace technically spot on lead guitar work from Steve, they all pulled together to create an awesome show raising the bar high for all of the other bands to follow.
